# Navigating the EdEHR Interface

Every charting screen follows the same layout.\
Once you know the five main sections (shown below) you can work in any case study with confidence.

1. **Application Banner**
2. **Learning Activity Banner**
3. **Health Record Banner**
4. **Health Record Navigation**
5. **Health Record Content**

We will go through each of these below

### 1. Application Banner

Located at the very top of every page.

1\. Click menu bars icon (far right).

2\. Click your choice of "Courses, Activity, User settings, Notepad , Exit to LMS"

#### Quick Menu Options:

* Courses (Go to the course dashboard page)
* Activity (Go to the activity dashboard page)
* User Settings (Placeholder for future features)
* Note Pad (A place for your private notes)
* Exit to LMS (This appears when your LMS provides the return URL (e.g. D2L does not).

### 2. Learning-Activity Banner

Sits directly under the Application Banner and belongs to *this* assignment.

You will find:

* the activity name,
* the simulation date and timing,
* simulation sign out button,
* instructions,
* feedback
* submit activity, if submissions are closed open then it will say "closed for edits"

### 3. Patient Banner & Simulation Clock

The grey banner that runs across the top of the chart content.

You will find options for

* Adding new Patient
* Searching Patient
* A tabs for each patient (you can have numerous patients open)
* Patient Data *(MRN, DoB, Gender, Weight, Code Status, Allergies, Diagnosis, Risks, PHN, Location, Date)*
* Mobile App QR Connection Link (For Barcode Scanning)
* Barcode page showing patient summary & medication orders

### 4. Health Record Navigation

The left hand navigation is the primary source of navigating between different health record forms and content areas. You can search for specific forms or navigate through drop down categories to find the desired form. You can also use the search bar to find what you're looking for.

* Left column = **Navigation** (Demographics, Allergies, Notes, Orders, Results, etc.).
* Right side = **Page content** (forms, tables, rich text).

### 5. Health Record Content

This is the heart the EHR interface the individual forms. After you have toggled to the desired form you can edit the form and or reset your chart data.

Many pages use editable forms: click **Edit form**, make changes, then **Save** or **Cancel**. You can always **Reset form data** to the base case.

2\. Click the field you want to edit

3\. Type your changes (e.g., "Mary Mary")

4\. Click "Save"
